In 2012, the Vivekanand Education Society (VES) celebrated 50 years of academic excellence. VES is a destination for the attainment of knowledge and education. This educational trust took birth as a dream of late Shri. Hashu Advaniji – is a philanthropist with a mission towards serving society. He felt a need for “a quality education to people of all classes” and understood how illiteracy was challenging the growth of the young country and denying its citizens the right to existence.

Even after decades of independence, there were many challenges the young democracy was facing. The foremost was illiteracy. A high rate of literacy was an essential requirement for the nation to place itself at par with other developed nations. Swami Vivekanand too believed that “A nation is advanced in proportion to education and intelligence that spread among the masses.” Being moved by the ideology of Swami Vivekanand, Late Shri Hashu Advaniji, chose the path of education as his share of contribution towards nation building. Thus, the Vivekanand Education Society (VES) was born in 1962.

With a humble beginning of 256 students, VES has witnessed tremendous growth over the years. Today, it has become one of the premier education hubs in Mumbai with an enrollment of more than 25,000 students across 23 institutions. The wide range includes playschools, pre-primary, higher secondary schools, degree, and post-graduate institutions, as well as institutions delivering professional courses like engineering and polytechnic, law college, management, Ph.D., etc.

In this era, when education is perceived as a lucrative monetization opportunity, VES strictly follows the principles of Shri. Hashu Advaniji believed that education is a proven and pristine way to build a nation. The principle “no capitation fees, no donations, and no management quota” is strictly implemented across all levels of its institutions.

Vivekanand Education Society Institute of Management Studies and Research (VESIM) was established in 1994. The institute is affiliated with the University of Mumbai and is certified A-grade by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) – Govt. of Maharashtra and is also accredited by NAAC. The course Master of Management Studies (MMS) has received AICTE approval and is NBA accredited for the years 2016–2019.

Over the years, VESIM has gained several recognitions, which has helped establish it as one of the promising business schools in Mumbai. In its latest ranking, VESIM was recognized as the best business school by ABP News. Business Today placed the institute among Top-B schools in India.

VESIM has signed MoUs with various international universities and business organizations which adds a global perspective to its education system.
